Scholar class for FFXI: Wings of the Goddess announced

Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess is alarmingly close to release, but Square Enix have been particularly reserved about revealing any major details about what additions will come with the expansion pack.

The Dancer was the first class revealed to fans a couple of weeks ago, and now we're being introduced to the newest addition, the Scholar.

According to the official FFXI site, the scholar will a mage-of-sorts whose "...knowledge of ancient martial theory granted them the ability to wield dual schools of magic". The source of a scholar's abilities, the grimoire, will be delved into in the upcoming expansion pack.


"The ferocious inferno of knowledge that we know as "magic" will soon fall into the hands of both Elvaan and Yagudo alike. On that day, a war that encompasses both man and woman, young and old, will descend upon as all.

I write this tome in the hope that it will aid in the defence of my beloved Windurst. I pray it never falls into the hands of our enemies..."


Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess is set to hit shelves on November 20th.
